I'm torn. Duty tells me I need to attend the caucus at my precinct in Grandview. Desire tells me to go to Irving for the Watch Party. I live about an hour from Irving. If I go to my caucus I cannot get to the watch party until 8:00, by that time it might be packed and I won't be able to get in. I don't want to drive an hour to not get in or to stand in the back of the room. Help me make a decision.

Every precinct will hold a Republican caucus. Usually they're held right after the polls close. The precinct caucus is the smallest unit of the Republican party. Precinct caucuses choose delegates to the county caucus who in turn choose delegates to the state convention who choose delegates to the national convention.
So, we definitely need Huckabee support people at precinct caucuses. Also, the precinct caucus is where you can introduce any resolutions you would like to see the Republican party adopt. For example, the Texas Homeschool Coalition has two resolutions it would like homeschooling parents to put forward. If the precinct caucus votes to accept the resolution then the county caucus must consider and vote on the resolution. This is how various planks get added to the Republican platform. |
