Most of you know that my dad (George Faught) is the State Rep. for HD14 (eastern Muskogee and western Cherokee counties). His seat will probably be the most targeted race by the state Democrats; he's already drawn at least one opponent.

I'm sending a letter (hopefully this weekend) to Gov. Huckabee, asking if he'd come to do a fundraising event for dad. I'm going to attach notes from Huckabee supporters (i.e. Melanie Grayson, Scott Pruitt, Maressa Treat, etc.) to my letter; if any of you would like to write a paragraph or so, recommending my dad to Gov. Huckabee, I'd really appreciate it!

You can email any note to jamisonfaught (at) yahoo.com

My dad has a new website (www.GeorgeFaught.com) and a new YouTube page (these will continue to be updated in the coming weeks).

I'll include my letter in this post, for any who want to read it.

Dear Gov. Huckabee,

Let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Jamison Faught, and I am an 18 year-old home-schooled Okie from Muskogee, Oklahoma. I had the opportunity to cast my very first vote this past Presidential Primary; I enthusiastically marked your name on the ballot, and then went to wave signs with more of your supporters at several intersections in town. You ended up winning our county as well as our Congressional District.

This November, I will cast the vote I had reserved for you for John McCain, as well as vote for my dad, which brings me to the main objective of this letter.

My dad (George Faught) is a first-term Republican State Representative from Oklahoma?s House District 14 (eastern Muskogee and western Cherokee counties, in east-central Oklahoma). He received 54% of the vote in 2006, in a 72% Democratic district that had never since statehood sent a Republican to the State House. Similar to your race, our campaign was truly a ?David and Goliath? story!

My dad is a self-employed carpet cleaner, not a politician. Even during the months of session, he cleans carpets on the weekends. He never had political aspirations, or dreams of elected office. He was asked by the local Republican Party officials to run for this seat just three days before the filing period! He and Mom prayed about it, and sought counsel from family members and friends. My parents both felt that ?peace? which passes all understanding? Paul told the Philippians about and we began the exciting road to the State House.

Five months later, after running a positive, debt-free, frugal race, my dad became the first Republican in Oklahoma?s history to represent our district. Our election was the most unexpected outcome in the state; since this district was so heavily Democratic, and had never really come close to electing a Republican, nobody (in either party) expected us to win.

The Oklahoma Democrats have said that one of their top priorities will be to defeat my dad in the November election, and they are already gearing up to achieve this goal. We realize that we will need to raise more money than we did last election, which is where you come into the picture.

Would you consider coming to Muskogee to do a fundraiser for State Rep. George Faught? I believe that if you came to do an event for my dad, it would give our campaign a tremendous boost, allowing us to devote more time to knocking doors and calling voters.

My dad shares your conservative ideals, and Christian faith. Dad has always lived out his belief in Christ in his daily walk; which is something I have found to be rare even among the state legislators who claim to be believers. He has always been heavily involved in church activities having served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher, as well as the home education of my siblings and I. Dad is strongly pro-life and pro-family, and has filed legislation supporting those issues. He authored a bill that would make English the Official Language of Oklahoma, and also helped push through House Bill 1804, the landmark immigration-reform bill passed by the Oklahoma Legislature last year. In his time in the State House so far, Dad has fought to make government more accountable, streamlined, and effective. He has voted for tax cuts, and against wasteful spending and corporate welfare.

I realize that your schedule is getting booked-up and hope that you will be willing to provide a date that you could come to eastern Oklahoma. I anxiously await your response.

Sincerely,

Jamison Faught
