IT'S TIME TO REPLACE CARL LEVIN WITH JACK HOOGENDYK! How can YOU HELP JACK DO THAT? Jack wants Levin to DEBATE HIM. WGVU and Grand Valley State University have formally invited Jack to debate Senator Levin live and on TV anytime between September 28 and November 2, 2008. Jack has accepted and, in fact has told the station that he would prefer an open forum with free give and take as well as unscripted, unscreened questions from the audience. WGVU has thanked Jack for his speedy response....they are waiting to hear back from Senator Levin. Jack Hoogendyk will challenge Levin to debate in a hand-deliver a letter to him at his campaign office in Southfield on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5. --Please arrive at 9:45 am, with your homemade signs with such things on them as "Hoogendyk for Senate", "DEBATE JACK NOW!", or "GVSU DEBATE!" or some other appropriate words. For more about Jack, his record, and his stands on issues that are important to you, go to: http://www.jackformi chigan.org/issues/ DEBATE NOW! Everyone can order dinner on your own at 7 pm, then we will discuss and plan our strategy for the upcoming "battle in Michigan" for our votes in November. We may possibly invite McCain's Michigan Regional Director, Al Ribiero to attend after dinner, and ask him how we might be best activated to assist here in Michigan for Sen. McCain. It will be great to get together--whether or not Mike is McCain's VP, we can do what we can to try to keep Obama out of the role of President of the United States! We welcome your ideas and discussion. Hope all Michiganders can come!

Send in your state tax returns yet? Better hurry, because Governor Granholm and House Speaker Andy Dillon need the 12% more they jacked up your state income tax; and they need it fast. Why? To pay for the THIRD state employee pay hike since March 31st of last year. Yep, most state employees, already the sixth highest paid state employees in the nation (The Detroit Free Press, 6-24-07) will, starting today, be paid six percent more than last March. All while inflation-adjusted, per-capita income for average Michigan citizens has actually declined since 2004. State employees already made an average of 29% more in salary and benefits than comparable private sector employees, but, for Granholm and Dillon, that wasn?t enough. Citizens must have less, so that they can have more. [color=red]Please join the Michigan Taxpayers Alliance (and Mr. Perks) for a Tuesday, April 15th protest of Granholm and House Speaker Andy Dillon?s tax increase! The protest will take place at the Redford U.S. Post Office from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The Redford Post Office is located at 12245 Beech Daly Road, Redford, MI 48239. Why Redford? Because this suburban Wayne County community is in the House district of Speaker Andy Dillon. It has a very busy 24/7 post office. And Rose Bogaert and the Wayne County Taxpayers Association need your support! Bring a picket sign. Make your position on the campaign to recall Speaker Dillon known, or speak out against Lansing?s overspending and general ineptitude, or express yourself regarding the proposed Michigan Fair Tax. Just be there if you care! The protest has one thing in common with taxes: it takes place rain or shine! See you on April 15th. Leon Drolet Michigan Taxpayers Alliance www.mitaxpayers.org

The Circle of Friends for American Veterans will be holding a rally for homeless veterans and to support their Veterans Bill of Rights, for which Governor Huckabee is the forefront proponent. From the Facebook description: "A RIP-ROARING rally in support of homeless veterans. Presidential campaigns, local officials, local media, color guard, open bar and hopefully you. Our rally is a great opportunity to show your support for homeless veterans, and have your elected officials hear you. Please arrive a little before 6:00 pm for an exciting, and brief, rally in support of homeless veterans." While we cannot pass out campaign literature inside the rally, we can stand outside and pass out flyers, etc. for the Huckabee campaign! I will be contacting the group shortly to work on specific plans.
