The time devoted to the meeting tonight is better served getting the vote out for Huckabee. I believe the primary in Texas has come down to principle not popularity for Huckabee supporters.

Here is the strategy I wanted to lay out for us. There is nothing amazing about it. We simply have to be consistent in talking to people about Mike Huckabee.

1. Before this evening is over, I hope that you will become a Ranger at mikehuckabee.com and make at least five phone calls for the campaign. After you made your calls leave a shout for the group letting them know how the calls went.
2. In the days before March 4th, email friends and family in Texas encouraging them to vote for Mike Huckabee.
3. At your convenience, I would encourage you to email campaign headquarters kindly asking them to consider coming to west Texas. I have seen events in central Texas, south Texas and east Texas but nothing in west Texas. I think that is part of the reason conservatives in west Texas are developing a lack of interest in the primary. I have noticed in earlier primaries that the campaign focused on rural areas and let McCain take the urban areas. Huckabee has made a good choice in focusing on Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, Waco, College Station. But, where is west Texas in this line up. I have tried to make my case to the campaign, but I have gotten no where. What they need to here is that there is more than one person desiring for Huckabee to visit west Texas.

I hope you are not disappointed by not having a face to face meeting. I think this is a better use of time and energy with our group being so spread out across west Texas. One more week to show the Republican party how Texas feels about the future of the party. My brother said it best today when he said, "I guess I am not a Republican any more. I am a conservative."

Thanks for all you've done.
