The Austin Mike Huckabee for President 2008 Meetup Group Message Board › Thoughts about Virginia Primary Results

I spent a good hour or two last night watching CNN and going online to view the county by county results from Virginia. (I was not as interested about Maryland or DC, because DC is about the most liberal place in the entire country, and Maryland is not all that much different (politically) than the states to its north.) Only once in about 2 hours worth of CNN's coverage did they ever mention just how much of Virginia McCain DIDN'T win. I spent the first 25 years of my life as a resident of the Commonwealth. I am proud to say that the area I am from voted overwhelmingly in favor of Huckabee. The counties and cities that McCain won were in Northern VA, the Tidewater area, and around Richmond. These are typically all more "moderate" areas of the state. Deep down, though, the results from VA show once again that McCain has a problem getting the support of the folks of the lesser populated areas of the South.
It shows that Huckbee is a force that still needs to be reckoned with. It annoys me to no end that the news media pretty much comes right out and says Huckabee has no chance to win and should throw in the towel. They would like nothing more than to see McCain as the GOP candidate. They have a vested interest in doing their part to see he gets nominated. Stay the course. Be not discouraged or dismayed. May God continue to strengthen each of us in this tedious march uphill. Hope is not lost. |
