As you know, on the Democratic side, there is still a tight race between Obama and Clinton. This is in large part due to Democratic delegates being allocated proportionately.

Unfortunately, the Republican party bosses like to shut down democracy before the people get their say, so most of the Republican primaries are "winner take all", which means that if you win a primary by a mere plurality (e.g. as little as 21% in a 5 person race that is evenly divided), then you get ALL of the delegates from that state. So, even though the majority of Republican primary voters do NOT want McCain, he still gets all of the delegates.

If the Republican Party allocated delegates proportionately based on the primary results, Gov. Huckabee would be neck-and-neck with McCain right now (just like Obama and Clinton), and the likelihood of inaugurating President Huckabee next January would be much much greater.

Promote proportionality.
